Family Fitness

The first round of holidays are over, and I am already thinking about the New Year. One of my main areas of focus this coming year will be family fitness and health. Starting with some of the basics such as exercise and nutrition, I will also spend time learning about supplements and removing as much harmful elements from my family’s nutrition. We would like to really explore the relationship between weight loss, whole unprocessed foods, and knowing where all our food comes from and what is in it.

Fast food is an American way of life. Sedentary living has become a partner as well. Some of our lifestyles will have to slowly, but radically change to become more self-sufficient and live the healthier and longer lifestyle we all want.

One of the first steps my family took, is to give a healthy gift this year. In a time of getting back to basics, we took a digital leap forward to help learn about what our fitness goals really feel like. We each received a BodyBugg that tracks both calories going out and calories going in. There is a body sensor device that is worn to track your results. These are uploaded to a website allowing you to analyze your progress on a daily, hourly, or even smaller incremental basis. I thought I was eating a healthy and moderate diet based on a low-carb premise. I am now quickly learning that my portions and medium level of activity were very much rationalized to what I wished they were. The instant feedback is incredible. There is no cheating. You learn to eat what you want, when you want, and what is required in counter physical activity to maintain, lose, or gain weight depending on your goals.

I will post more about our progress with this new tool as we meet our family fitness goals this coming year.

    I love that Body Bugg.

I recently bought one and I been having great success. I guess (for me) it is the fact that I really am “watching what I eat”. Making sure that I have a calorie deficit and not a surplus. That’s what it is about.

    I highly recommend it!!

    Cheers,
